Irvine confirms Hughes and Westcarr enquiries.

Alan Irvine has confirmed the enquiries of Notts County duo Lee Hughes and Craig Westcarr. Rumours have been running wild today, and Irvine has today told BBC Radio Sheffield "We are aware of them, and have made some tentative enquires, but there is nothing going on at the moment." Suggesting that County are not looking to sell either of their strike pair. This may come as a sigh of relief to Owls fans, of whom many had been uncertain about the benefits of signing 34 year old Hughes. On the other hand Westcarr rumours were yet to surface until Irvine's announcement earlier today. Westcarr has scored 51 career goals in 227 career appearances which is not exactly a prolific scoring record, leaving some to ask the question, why is Irvine trying add strikers to the squad which already contains 4 quality strikers in Morrison, Madine, Mellor and Heffernan.

Another player Wednesday have today been linked with is former target Dany N'Guessan, who is currently playing his football at the Walkers Stadium for Leicester City. N'Guessan had been linked with the Owls last season when he was playing for Lincoln City but opted for a move to Leicester. Last season he impressed and managed 31 appearances for the Foxes and 3 goals, but this year he has struggled to get into the team and has been sent out on loan earlier in the season the Championship struggler's Scunthorpe. Dany is known for being a quick, physical winger and it is no surprise he has once again been linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday. New Wednesday Chief Executive Paul Aldridge had spoken earlier in the week, suggesting a move for another player could be done before saturday's game at Leyton Orient. Owls fans will be excited to hear of this arrival with speculation about to many players surrounding the club, leaving the fans only to guess who will be next through the Hillsborough doors.
